Rev. Halton "Hal" George Davis

Funeral services for Rev. Halton "Hal" George Davis, 82, of Cookeville, Tennessee will be conducted Monday, April 28, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Assembly in Algood with burial in Bear Creek Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Rev. Davis died Friday, April 25, 2003 at Masters Health Care Center in Algood.

He was born November 15, 1920 in Illinois to the late John Barnes and Carrie Mae McDonald Davis. He was a retired machine operator with Bower Roller Co. in East Detroit, Mich. and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Rev. Davis was a Baptist minister and was the founding minister at Rickman First Baptist Church. He also pastored at Bear Creek Baptist Church, Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Liberty Baptist Church in White County, Johnsons Chapel Baptist Church and Peniel Baptist Church in Michigan. He had also served as interim pastor at several area churches. He served as a Chaplain at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Trinity Assembly in Algood.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters - Reatha O'Neal & Marjorie O'Neal.

Survivors are wife of 51 yaers - Geneva Thompson Davis of Cookeville, 2 daughters and sons-in-law Pam & Warren Stewart, and Peggy & Chuck Karlosky, 3 sons & daughters-in-law - Mark & Tina Davis, David & Karen Davis, and Bobby & Jennifer Davis all of Cookeville, 14 grandchildren - Jennifer, Christina, Meghan, Cameron, Keith, Amber, Chris & Emily Davis, Rebecca Stewart, John & wife Andrea Stewart, Andrew Stewart, Jessica, Chuck, Jr., & Stephanie Karlosky, and 1 great-grandchild Ethan Stewart.

Family will receive friends Sunday, April 27, 2003 from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Cobble, Greg, Rick, Gary & Jamie Burgess, Chuck Karlosky, Chuck Karlosky, Jr., Warren & Andrew Stewart and Keith Davis.

Pastor Eddie Turner and Pastor Mike Campbell will officiate.

Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
